This place definitely needs more activity...here at the forum especially, where many of the dates show postings from last year...and in chat and such...we've got to spread the word to more people...so start talking about it to everyone you know...

This is a good place...apart from the good things offered...it's FREE! /smiles. But we should definitely have more life here...

`Well RavenBoy,

Sometimes, when something is free, people don't appreciate it. And once it has a serious price tag, people notice and buy more. Another example of the perverse logic of the demand for "inferior goods": Linux

* By "inferior goods" I mean "as perceived by the consumer", not the technical/functional merit of the good. See: Macroeconomic theory....

`Yeah, but I've known Linux to be good...for a long time...some industry heavyweights, FX and such in Hollywood, constantly use Linux based things for their stability...the great thing about Linux as well, on account of Linus Thorvalds (I think that's his surname...), the founder of it, generosity of spirit...he released it free for all to use and develop...now what a brilliant idea that is! And so in keeping with the spirit that should always be a part of the world wide web too.

Sometimes people don't appreciate what is free yes...but I've been to a number of sites before this one, some of which require payment for the entire or parts of the services...and they were just no good...

A forum, a place with a chat and community such as this one, which is FREE, is a brilliant continuation of the spirit of the world wide web as it should be...because the true value of it really is in its accessiblity for everyone.

But yes, I still see your points...I just hope and wish that this one remains free...because as it is, I never became a paying member of those other sites...this place is better..but it's chiefly made better by the people who are here...such as yourself../smiles.

`Perhaps it has somthing to do with the lack of advertiseing for this site. Until I ended up here as a result of a google saerch I had never heard of this place.

`I don't think the advertising has much to do with it.
Like you, Doctor, I found this place thru Google. I wouldn't be surprised if that's how most people find this site.
I think the lack of participation is due to various Instant Messaging services (ever see people constantly on their phone? and public venues. I happen to live in the Portland Oregon area and there are goth "scenes."

Another thing to take into consideration is the plethora of sites out there...the internet is like being a kid in the candy store; so much to pick and choose from.

`Those points you get for logging in. It says a large number of people log in but never post. What if you got points for everytime you posted in a forum.

`Argghh I have that same problem. XD And I'm in Los Angeles, so you know it can't be lack of goths or whatever. o.O Well, we can co-sympathize I guess, and I'll try to do my part to get this site more active/popular. ^^

`Despite the coy smile on tanabatadusk, I imagine the biggest problem is time. Once a person begins a search for Gothic sites, and presumably finds so many, it can be difficult to "talk" on each and every one. Sooner or later, people simply gravitate toward the few (or the ONE) that they prefer.

Speaking for myself, I wish I could keep up with the seven or eight sites I belong to. Far be it from me to succeed at such a simple task. :-)

`Well, I can honestly say it's been a long week. I've been out of town, signing books. One would think that an easy task. Not so. When the head hits the pillow this evening, it'll be lights out pretty quick, I would imagine.

To all my fellow dark lighters out there, enjoy the night for it is full of the stuff of legends and Gothic tales. Anything could hide in the shadows, from a horrific creature from the grave, or the physical ecstasy of a new s----l partner. That's why the darkness appeals so.

Got darkness in your soul? Bring it.

`Yep! and if on this site by sending a 'smooch' I agree to ur post then thats what I have done.
Sadly I must admit there seems a lack of response to anything these days and all ur responses have tapped the reasons why - I am looking for people to respond too and to have a response from that are real and interesting ... but perhaps most people are using the internet sites like these for disguised introductions for free viewing or paid for s----l liaisons ... be that as it may, I trust if I keep fishing I'll eventually land me some real time Goth like 'Fish' lol
