Brainstorming Goth Passions Promotion Ideas

We are spending 100% of our time programming, so the only promotion of the site is via links from other sites (and word of mouth by members).

We thought we should open a thread asking members to come up with creative (dirt cheap) promotion ideas. Since we are completely free, we don't expect to do paid advertising any time soon, although we may try some down the road.

In the meantime, if you feel creative, post whatever you come up with.

To be honest I dont think its advertising thats the problem. I find this web site extremely difficult to navigate in and its slow I mean really slow. I have cable internet, a dual core system with 2 gigs of ram and this site takes forever to load sometimes.

When I compare it to another 100% free dating site, the contrast is frightning. I come here once a week and thats only to see if I have any hits, ie e-amils or smooches. I dont bother to try and search other profiles because its so painful.

I'm not trying to bash you or your web site i just trying to point out that if other people are having their experience here frustrated by trying to navigate or long load times then perhaps that is why there is a low population on the site.

I really wish this site would be a whole magnitute easier to use. Check out that other site to get an idea of what I'm talking about. I use that more even though it has no goths in it because its so much nicer to use than this site. I'd much rather be here as I'm looking for a goth but I really wish things were more user friendly.

I'm trying to be contructive here and not just say, "your site sucks," I truely feel that if you can get this site so ita a pleasure to navigate in then your population will increase just from users using a google seach "free goth dating"[/url]

We don't allow URL's in the forums, so that people don't begin using them to promote other sites.

Don't worry about it.

We know we need to re-do the layout and design of the site. It's one of the weakest aspects of the network, but our focus has been on adding features, instead of focusing on the underlying engine or the design elements (for now).

There are some things we have on the 'to-do' list that would optimize things quite a bit, but since no one has complained about the speed of the site, we've been putting it off. And plenty of people come here everyday, so we're a little surprised not to have heard of slowness issues, if it's that bad for you.

(Literally, no one has said anything about slowness.)

And it sounds like it shouldn't be a problem for your system either, so we're not sure what is happening for you.

We're pretty thick skinned, so criticism isn't a problem. Feel free to point out specific areas that suck, or that are lame...or things that we need to add.

We looked at the site you mentioned, and the homepage loads fast, but it makes people sign up in order to see any profiles, and we don't want to bother with it.

We have a ton of interactive stuff in the works, including video profiles , a goth library and enhanced blocking...but let us know what things aren't working for you, or that we need to work on, and we'll take a look.

If we don't hear from members, we just focus on what we want to work on...but if people are having problems, then we want to know.

Hi all

I am working on a video for a late-night TV show in Spain and first topic is on Gothic dating so this is the proposal:

1) we get two people who have met through this site to go on a date and tell our camera how great Goth Passions is

2) they get to go for free to teh gig at The Underworld this Saturday.
